"I have a favour to ask," I begin as soon as Mum is out of earshot.
"Anything," Hermione replies smiling.
I take a deep breath and stare down into my pumpkin juice, "I was wondering if you could pick up Nevaeh and Hedwig after the reception and look after them for us." Nevaeh, obviously having heard her name, scampers over and jumps up on my lap. I scratch behind her ear and feel her purrs reverberate through my legs.
She smiles warmly, looking at the cat and readily answers, "Of course. That's easy enough...but it's not the favour is it?"
"Not... not exactly," I admit hesitantly. It still feels a bit strange to ask this and I know my cheeks must be pink. "Harry and I... well, the night I was taken, Harry had set up a romantic bath for us and I saw it when we got back to our flat and panicked." Hermione's face is concerned but she lets me get it out. "So last week, before we moved back to The Burrow, I set up a bath and stripped in front of him," my face grows even hotter, "then changed into my bathing suit. We had a bath and it was lovely. I want..." here it comes... "I want to have our first time be in the bath tub."
After that, Hermione's eyes glaze over slightly but then she refocuses them on me with a twinkle not unlike Dumbledore's. "I see," she says simply, and a big grin spreads on her face.
"What?" I ask, laughing slightly to cover my embarrassment.
"Oh… nothing. You brought back some memories," she tells me smiling teasingly.
I want to groan, because she is referring to my brother, but more than that, I want my first time to be special. What if I MESS this up? "So... so you don't think that Harry will hate it?" I question, hedging around what I am really worried about.
"He'll love it! Making love in a bathtub is somewhat a fantasy for men in general. He wanted you both to take a bath together that day, remember?" She asks me and then adds, "Besides, a bathtub gives you the opportunity to...splash around a bit and sometimes the 'clumsiness' of the first time can be hidden that way."
I nod, reassured, before sighing. "I'm scared that he won't enjoy it, which is ridiculous because I'm sure he will but what if I'm not..." I clamp my mouth shut and look away. You sound stupid Ginny! Of course he wants you... you already know that.
Hermione nods, "I know what you mean. My first time with Ron - oh, don't grimace like that- it was more passionate than anything else, but I still had that question in the back of my head of whether I was doing everything right. I assure you though, this is one of the cases you can't go wrong in anything you do. He wants you, Ginny. I'm quite certain that he must have proven that to you several times," she says, smiling impishly.
"Yeah, all right," I turn back to her and watch her eat another scone. "We're going to try for a baby right away," I say and watch her pause in her bite.
"Right away? That's wonderful! Though Merlin knows why Ron was so nervous over it."
"Harry's not," I say, tracing a pattern along the old, wooden table. "I thought that maybe we should wait while everything is so dangerous and because I'm useful but he doesn't want to put our lives on hold anymore."
I see her smiling warmly, "I definitely agree with Harry then. However, you still haven't told me the favour you're asking yet."
"Oh! the bathtub," I tell her. "When you pick up Nevaeh and Hedwig, can you fill the tub and light the candles? The candles are still arranged from the bath that Harry and I took last week. We're going to tuck Tina in before heading back to our house." Another thought occurs to me, "and please don't tell anyone that we're staying at our house the first night." I'm sure she could read my double meaning my brothers.
"That's easy enough, though I think Ron will actually be very uncomfortable about it. On second thought, I'll definitely make him come with me." She smiles mischievously at that. "Do you have any preference on bath salts? I can look the spell up for you."
"No, I don't but anything would be fine," I tell her, relieved that this detail will be taken care of. "So how have you been?"
"Oh, fine. I've kept myself busy. You know, a little of this, a little of that," she says and I know that she's up to something, though I don't know whether I should ask or not.
"It's good to keep busy," I can hear my own skepticism and chuckle, realizing I'm probably going to ask anyway. "Busy with what?"
"Well, I can't tell you just now, but hopefully it will be something both profitable and useful, though I wish it will be more of the latter."
"Hmm, well that should be interesting..." then another question I have wanted to ask slips out. "Are you okay being out of the action? I mean," I hurry on, "I think I might go stir crazy having to sit on the sidelines if... if I do get pregnant."
Her expression turns to a thoughtful one before she replies, "Well, I must admit, I did have a burning urge to hex Dolohov on the spot, But I can't chance the baby getting hurt. As much as I wish to fight them, I won't risk it."
"All right." Nevaeh stands and stretches, butting her head against my chin before jumping off and wandering over to her water dish. "I am looking forward to having a baby but I don't want to be useless in our fight against Malfoy."
"Don't worry. You won't be. I'm sure Harry will make sure you won't as he has done with me."
"True," I grin at my best friend. "So have you and Ron discussed any names yet?"
"Yes, but his are always dreadful ones, in my opinion of course. We have, at last, decided though."
"On what?"
"Well, Ron insists on Fabian but I'll put my foot down. I think Christian Brian Weasley has a ring to it."
"I love it!" I reply with a huge smile. "I think it has character and it's a strong name."
"It is. The middle one especially," she tells me, giving me small smile.
"After Dumbledore?"
"Yes. I like the name itself too, though."
"I do too, but not Fabian. I just can't believe how many babies are being born!" I take a sip of my cooling coffee. "Not that it is a bad thing but still, Mum really is getting a lot of grandchildren all at once."
"Be careful of what you wish for, is what Muggles say. Nonetheless, I think she's delighted in the prospect of so many children around again."
I look up at Harry and Ron as they pull open the kitchen door, "Hello. Have a good time?"
"Course," Harry mummers before kissing me on the cheek and pulling a chair out next to me.
